School curriculums everywhere are introducing digital based STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) programs to help students keep up with growing technology. As part of this STEAM program a growing number of schools are implementing a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)system which entails students bringing in their own tablets and laptop cases.
The unique laptop cases have been designed and created by Brisbane based Art Director Tash Westmore, and mother of 4, after she found it almost impossible to find a laptop case for her primary aged son which was both protective and distinguishable.
“I purchased a school recommended laptop for my son which cost about $1100 and all I could find were $30-40 sleeves in which protection was questionable or sturdy cases in boring black that are great for the corporate world, but not so great for fun loving kids” Tash said.
“This is when I realised that I had all the skills necessary to design and create these products of my own. Electronic devices, although controversial for child 'screen time' are helping our kids to connect to the world, encourage creativity and online engagement, and I want all kids to feel happy to carry their laptops around, rather than drag more boring school stuff around."
The self-confessed eternal optimist wants all students and the young at heart to stay current in digital experiences, encased in a bit of fun!
